Abstract:

The collection contains papers of Helen Bullard from 1908-1979. Though the oldest items in the collection are photographs dating from the 1920's, the bulk of the papers were created in the late 1960's and the 1970's. The collection includes correspondence, subject files, writings and reports, clippings, and photos, relating to Bullard's interests in electioneering, Georgia and national politics, civil rights, civic affairs, and race relations; together with material relating to her involvement with Atlanta Housing Authority as consultant for tenant relations, and her work with Fernbank Science Center and its development into an urban park and biological center. Persons represented include Ivan Allen, George Busbee, Max Cleland, Jimmy Carter, William Wyche Fowler, Grace Towns Hamilton, James A. Mackay, Sidney J. Marcus, Zell Miller, Eliza K. Paschall, Celestine Sibley, Herman E. Talmadge, Nedra Tyre, and Jack H. Watson, Jr.
