Script: Written in littera humanistica and littera humanistica cursiva by two scribes.
Decoration: Head of text (fol. 1r) has a 6-line illuminated initial depicting the bust of a medieval teacher; decoration extends into three-quarter border with foliate motif and the arms of Nicholas V in the bas-de-page; decoration is executed in gold, blue, white, rose, red, green, grey, brown, black and orange. 4-7-line illuminated initials at the beginning of articles, some of which extend into the margin; executed in gold, green, rose, grey, orange, red, white and blue. Illumination appears to be the work of the same artist who decorated Vat. lat. 852. 6-line penwork initials at the beginning of questions in red with violet filigree and blue with red filigree, in alternation.
Origin: Probably written in the mid-15th century in central Italy, possibly at the request of Pope Nicholas V.
