Abstract:

An Indian boy named Hiawatha makes friends with the animals of the forest and learns to speak their language. When the time comes for him to be a warrior, he refuses to kill his friend the deer. However, he earns his place among the strong braves when he kills a cougar with his bare hands. Hiawatha then gets involved with an evil medicine man who wants to put a spell on the forest. Hiawatha outwits the bad man, and peace returns to the forest, and the young brave is named Indian Chief.
