Hide-and-Seek Puppies   (2009-04-02)
ISBN 0895774550 - Almost too cute to not deserve a second look, Hide-and-Seek Puppies seemed like the book guaranteed to disappoint. How could the book actually BE that cute?! But it is and, even better, little kids will think so too.
A puppy and his friends play hide and seek. The puppy finds one friend, they find another... but they're not able to find the last puppy. They decide to head home, thinking that maybe their missing friend will come looking for them - and when they arrive home, they find him waiting!
Each page features a cut-out section in the middle and every other page has a plastic window. These windows have the potential to be the worst part of the book, even if they are the cutest part. They're plastic and bound to collapse under enough of a beating, out-weighing the sturdiness of most board book pages. The writing isn't fantastic, it's a simple rhyme that sometimes doesn't flow too easily, but with the target audience being 0-3 years old, they're not likely to complain. Built in is the chance to teach counting and, really, what parent doesn't enjoy the chance to sneak in a little education?
