The Hisle-Hysell Genealogy Newsletter is actually a quarterly. It currently consists of 24 pages and was begun, along with the family group itself, in 1985. The newsletter has had 3 editors. The first was Deborah Sanders Hysell Hisel. Mr. & Mrs. Clinton (Corinne) Hisle were editors for two transitional years and J. Philip Hysell has been editor since 1997. Deborah founded the group and funded several experienced Virginia genealogists to develop data on the beginnings of the family. One of the earliest members was Carol Constance (Connie) Younker Boyer. She authored the seminal book on the family, "The Barnhysle/Barnhisel and Hisle/Hysell Families of Virginia". Prior to her passing in 2008, Connie donated her research papers to the Denver Public Library and all her published works on the family to Phil Hysell. Phil became the family archivist and collaborated with the Genealogy Department of the Allen County Public Library in Fort Wayne, IN to install a complete and continually growing collection of the newsletters in their Family History Section, along with the indices. Corinne, funded by the Hisle-Hyselll Genealogy Group, worked with a German genealogist to locate the beginnings of the family in Germany, which was published in the newsletter. This newsletter collection, along with Mrs. Boyer's books, is considered to be the definitive history of the Hisle-Hysell family.
