Abstract:

Academic administrator Charles Moody, Sr. was born August 30, 1932 in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. Earning his B.S. degree in chemistry from Central State University in 1954, Moody received a commission in the United States Army. In 1961, Moody earned his M.S. degree in education from Chicago Teachers College. In 1971 he received his Ph.D. degree in educational administration from Northwestern University. He joined the education faculty of University of Michigan in 1970, retiring as vice provost emeritus and professor emeritus in 1997. From 1987 to 2002, Moody worked as superintendent of searches for Hazard Young and Attea. In 1970, Moody founded the National Alliance of Black School Educators, (NABSE). The Charles D. Moody and Christella D. Moody South African Initiative Fund was established by the University of Michigan to honor the efforts of Moody and his wife. Moody retired to Las Vegas.
