Frank Savage

Abstract:

Investment banker Frank Savage was born on July 10, 1938 in Rocky Mount, North Carolina. He earned his B.A. degree from Howard University in 1962 and his M.A. degree in international relations from Johns Hopkins University in 1968. Upon graduation, Savage joined Citibank, where he became the first African American in the bank’s international division. After serving as president of EquiCo Capital Corp and executive vice president of TAW International Leasing, Savage was appointed vice chairman of the board and head of international operations for Equitable Capital Management Corporation. He was named senior vice president of AXA Equitable Life Insurance Company in 1987, became chairman emeritus of Alliance Capital Management International in 1993, and chairman emeritus of Howard University’s board of trustees in 2004. In 2001, he established Savage Holdings, serving as CEO. Savage received the prestigious Lord Nelson Trophy as the overall winner of the 2003 Antigua Race Week Regatta.
