Abstract:

Lawyer and corporate executive Solomon B. Watson IV was born on April 14, 1944, in Salem, New Jersey. In 1966, Watson graduated from Howard University with his B.A. degree in English. He served as a lieutenant in the military police corps from 1966 to 1968 and was awarded the Bronze Star and Army Commendation Medals. He entered Harvard Law School and graduated in 1971 earning his J.D. degree. Watson worked at the Federal Reserve Bank of Boston and then as an associate in the Boston law firm of Bingham, Dana & Gould. In 1974, he joined the legal department of The Times Company and became assistant secretary in December 1976 and general counsel in 1989. Watson was a member of One Hundred Black Men, Inc. and the Anglers’ Club of New York. He was an avid saltwater fly fisherman.
