Abstract:

The roles of the patient, family, and interdisciplinary health care team are discussed in a variety of hospice care settings. Advances in medical technology and pharmacology have made non-curative, life-prolonging approaches to terminal illness widely available and successful palliative care highly individualized, requiring the coordinating efforts of the patient care team.
