Abstract:

Peter Firmin grew up listening to the hunting stories of his father and grandfather. His father John Firmin was and continues to be a legendary hunter in the Whanganui district. Living in back country Whanganui and with role models like his father it is no surprise that he too became a dedicated hunter. Easy when the hunting started at the front gate and surrounded with thousands of acres of prime hunting for deer and pigs. Peter developed his skills and hunting prowess as he grew up hunting with "the old man" and on his own. This is not your normal hunting book, it is more than a look back in our recent past to the last of "the good old days". It's also about growing up in a hunting tradition and continuing a hunting legacy.
