Hurting for Love describes the diverse situations in which medical professionals are confronted with parents with Munchausen by proxy syndrome. It considers the reasons behind the manifestation of MBPS in mothers and the varied outcomes of many children with affected parents. Schreier and Libow make a neat chronology of the progression of MBPS, from discovery to their last encounters with victimized children and/or their parents. It is a sensitive and serious commentary on the profile of a “closet” condition that could be easily utilized by the layperson or medical professional.
