Abstract:

This films is the portrait of the National Museums' director in France during the World War II. It depicts how all of the Louvre masterpieces avoided the Nazis' looting thanks to this man. To direct is to plan, and Jaujard planned what was about to happen. He organized the evacuation and the exodus of more than 4,000 pieces (including the Joconde and the Seated Scribe). This great resistant fighter eluded Hitler's greed, fooled Vichy's government saved this cultural heritage and protected lives. Jaujard's fight is finally revealed. The story is narrated by Mathieu Amalric and is filled with testimonies, animated scenes, and original footage. This portrait becomes similar to the hero it describes: romantic, elegant, methodical, and precise.
