Accompanying the reliquary is a certificate from Alexander Maria, Bishop of Perugia, attesting to the authenticity of the relics and authorizing the recipient (unnamed) to keep them, give them away, or display them for veneration. Dated 7 September 1783 and signed by the bishop and by his secretary, Joseph Angelini.
The certificate is partly printed and partly filled out by hand in ink. It measures 34x24 cm.
In the certificate Alexander cites Philip Amadeus, bishop of Perugia, as authority for the authenticity of the relics.
Also includes a sheet with a later English translation of the certificate. This sheet was previously attached to the back of the frame.
