Abstract:

This DVD contains images, history, and a tour of the Italian town of ancient Stabiae (modern day Castellamare di Stabia), a resort community of lavish summer homes, which was destroyed in A.D. 79 along with the city of Pompeii. An exhibition and four year tour (2004-2008) was organized by the Restoring Ancient Stabiae Foundation, which hopes to complete the excavation and conservation of at least two of the enormous villas (including Villa San Marco) and the transformation of the site into one of the largest archaeological parks in Modern Europe.
