On the front cover of the 1938 edition of this book are these words: "We question whether any book outside of the Bible was ever published so full of Inspiration." Such were the thoughts of the followers of controversial J. Frank Norris. Norris was a man who knew how to draw the numbers into his churches. He pastored two churches at the same time, one in Fort Worth, Texas and the other in Detroit, Michigan. During the three years of the joint pastorate there were 6,193 people received into the membership of both churches. Yet he was frequently in hot water because of decisions that were ostensibly made to advance the cause of Christ. During his pastorate, he shot a man in his office and got off on a self-defense plea. As for me, I think he gave Baptist pastors everywhere a "black-eye."
