Abstract:
Explaining the importance of intellectuals in all modern societies, this program considers the vital role intellectuals played in 20th-century France. Beginning with the Dreyfus Affair in 1894, the program traces major events of the 20th century, showing how intellectuals offered philosophical reflections that often contested official policies, ideologies, and actions.
