Abstract:

Four days before the Fourth of July and the dedication of the new Freedom Tower building at ground zero in New York City, five passengers and a flight attendant foil the hijacking of a commercial jet over the Atlantic Ocean. Thrust into the national spotlight, the six become instant celebrities. But NYPD detective Jeremy Fisk believes there's more to it than a simple case of attempted terrorism. Fisk--part of the department's Intelligence Division, an antiterror unit--suspects that this might just be a diversion, a warning that a more devastating attack is imminent. Another passenger, a Saudi Arabian national, has disappeared into the crowds of Manhattan, and Fisk must find him before the holiday celebrations begin. As each new lead fizzles, Fisk and his partner realize that their opponents are smarter and more agile than any they have ever faced. They exploit every security weakness and anticipate Fisk's every move--and time is running out.
