Betty L. Corwin, founding director of the Theatre on Film and Tape Archive, a repository of theatrical videorecordings which is part of the Billy Rose Theatre Collection, discusses the history of the archive, which is located at the New York Public Library for the Performing Arts. Topics covered include the union negotiations which made the tapings possible, the rising costs involved in videotaping stage performances since the archive began in 1970, funding efforts, and anecdotes about memorable tapings and personalities.
