Abstract:

Rudel, the New York City Opera general director and principal conductor, speaks about the Spoleto festival from which he recently returned; conducting in Italy Love for Three Oranges by Prokofiev and a work by Howard Hanson, a contemporary American composer; operatic and symphonic conductors, and subsidies that enable his opera company to reach out to bigger audiences. White remarks on the rumor he heard about the new location in Lincoln Center for the NYC Opera instead of the City Center and welcomes the idea of having two opera companies in New York.
