Abstract:

"To seminarians, priests, novices, religious and all the faithful who wish to deepen their spiritual life by going to the great sources of Holy Scripture illuminated by Catholic tradition, this 'Introduction' is offered for what it is and nothing more: an initiation into the fundamental problems of every spiritual life and into the perennial principles governing the solution of these problems. I have consistently avoided making this a work of special pleading for any one side or school of thought, since I am convinced that there is only one Catholic spirituality worthy of the name: that of the Gospel as the Church proclaims it to us: that is, as it came from Christ Himself through the Apostles, 'the same yesterday, today and forever'."--Foreword.
