"Observational highlights include results from the Compton Gamma-Ray Observatory, the ROSAT X-ray satellite, the ASGAT and Whipple Observatory TeV experiments, and the Hubble Space Telescope. A section is devoted to the experimental details of pulsar timing studies. Well-illustrated theoretical contributions include those on thermal and non-thermal emission mechanisms, the interior dynamics following a glitch, the properties of dense matter, thermal evolution, the generation and development of magnetic fields, rotation and oscillations of neutron stars, and the interaction of the pulsar wind with the surrounding nebula. The evolution of pulsars is also examined in the light of statistical studies of their galactic distribution."" ;
