Several bound volumes belonging to Strang include a volume of Shakespeare's complete works, an 1832 edition of Bibliotheca classica by J. Lempriere, Journal of the House of Representatives of the State of Michigan 1853, a typescript of Extracts from the Journal for 1853, and a volume of the 1917 Annual publications Historical Society of California containing letters of George Miller. Materials relate chiefly to Strang's activities from his time in Wisconsin to the establishment on Beaver Island in 1847 or the Strangite Mormon colony, his service in the Michigan legislature from 1852-1856, and his 1856 assassination. All materials were collected by Doyle C. Fitzpatrick in the course of his research for his 1970 book, "The King Strang Story: A Narrative of the Beaver Island Mormons." The collection also includes some of Mr. Fitzpatrick's correspondence and periodical articles and newspaper clippings relating to his collection of Strang and Beaver Island materials and the research for and publication of his book.
