Osgood is at a loss to know what Hawthorne meant by this and wants an explanation "as this is outside of business and personal to myself." In a letter, 86 Mar 16, Osgood writes to "Parker" that J. W. H[arper?] is absent at Old Point Comfort. Mr. Seymour has sent in an advertisement. He thanks him for his congratulations on his 50th birthday, which he reciprocates. He will spend a week in Boston in April and will see Parker then. He has "taken my passage" in the "City of Rome" in April.
