The collection includes a view of Carter meeting with attorney Richard Brodsky and others, probably during his campaign for President (1976); with King Hassan II, of Morocco, meeting Alvin Ailey and members of his dance company at the White House (1978); with wife Rosalynn, Coretta Scott King, Martin Luther King, Sr. and United Nations Ambassador Andrew Young singing "We Shall Overcome" at a White House tribute to Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. (1978); with Rosalynn, Mrs. King and Ambassador Young at the memorial where Dr. King was assassinated in Memphis (1978); meeting with a group of black newspaper publishers (1979); and at an unidentified White House dinner attended by activist Dorothy Height, former Housing and Urban Development Secretary Robert C. Weaver and Army Secretary Clifford Alexander (1979). Among those depicted in group portraits with Carter include former U.S. Olympic track star Wilma Rudolph, singer Alberta Hunter, psychologist Kenneth B. Clark, singer Marian Anderson, civil rights attorney Clarence M. Mitchell and Washington, D.C. Mayor Marion Barry. Also depicted are Rosalynn Carter meeting dancer Judith Jamison at the White House (1978), and Vice President Walter Mondale conferring with congressional delegate Walter Fauntroy and Congressman Charles B. Rangel (1979).
