Abstract:

"The Prisons," the second segment in a two-part account of the life of Joan of Arc, begins in June, 1429, as Joan rejoins the Dauphin at Loches and embarks on a series of French victories over the English. But in May of the following year, Joan is captured and imprisoned. In January of 1431, the trial of Joan of Arc begins and during five months, she faces her two judges; accused of sorcery, impurity, wearing men's clothing and refusal to submit to English rule, she is condemned as a heretic and burned at the stake.
