Abstract:

Polish immigration to Minnesota began ca. 1855 and peaked in the 1870s. Most who came to southeastern Minnesota came from Kashubia in north-central Poland. Kashubia was under Prussian rule from 1855-1918. The Kashubian settlement in Winona may be the largest in the United States.
