Abstract:

Part 1 looks at King's early life, from his childhood to his first years in office. The episode ends in 1926, with King ensnared in a customs scandal that threatened to cut short his political career. Part 2 looks at King's increasing interest in mysticism and his role in events leading to World War II and as mediator between Roosevelt and Churchill during the war. This episode ends with the invasion of Hong Kong and Churchill's 1941 visit to Canada. Part 3 looks at the Conscription Crisis and King's last term in office, ending with his retirement in 1948.
