He was admired by his contemporaries for his wide-ranging talents, which earned him the nickname "Jack of all trades"; the scope of his artistic work continues to impress to this day. As an illustrator, craftsman, interior designer, and painter, Kolo Moser not only helped to determine the style but also shaped significantly the artistic scene of his time. He was closely linked to the influential artistic institutions of the turn of the last century, as a founding member of the Vienna Secession and a co-founder of the Wiener Werkstätte as well as in his capacity as Professor at the College of Applied Arts in Vienna. His oeuvre is inextricably linked to the content and fortunes of Austrian Art at the end of the Danube Monarchy. This publication marking the exhibition in the Leopold Museum in Vienna contains the results of the latest interdisciplinary research on various aspects of Kolo Moser's work. In addition to his famous masterpieces it presents for the first time a large number of previously unknown artistic works from private and public collections. Recently discovered photographic material from the artist's estate also provides an insight into his private life, which it is impossible to separate from his creative work in so many fields of art. -- from front flap.
