First critical edition of the Chronicle of Constantine Manasses, in 6733 political verses, which carries Byzantine history down the ascension to the throne of Alexius Comnenus, in 1081. Manasses, who flourished in the first half of the 12th century, dedicates his work to Irene, the enlightened sister-in-law of Manuel Comnenus.
"Georgii Codini Excerpta de antiquitatibus Constantinopolitanis. Paris : E Typographi Regia, M.DC.LV" has separate t.p. and pagination.
Greek text with parallel Latin translation.
These two volumes, beautifully printed in "Grec du Roi," were originally published as part of the great Corpus of Byzantine History (Corpus Byzantinae Historiae), inaugurated at the Imprimerie Royale in 1645.
