"These pictures were taken at the Dege Parkhang, a printing temple located in Ganze Autonomous Prefecture in western China, in August of 2006 ... [P]rinted at the Center for Editions, Purchase College, on Mohawk Superfine. The film and separations were produced at the Center for Book & Paper at Columbia College Chicago ... The figures are line drawings from the photographs, now converted into a font, so the pilgrims have literally turned into language, at least in this book."--Colophon.
