Abstract:
This document is a letter written by William Holland Thomas to J.L. Moore in Hamburgh, South Carolina. Thomas wrote this letter, dated February 8, 1840, in response to a debt payment request by Moore. Thomas explained that, as he had been in Washington representing Cherokee claims that had arisen under the Treaty of 1835, he did not have his mercantile business papers with him. Therefore, Thomas was not aware of the debt or which store it involved, and he requested Moore to provide him with the location of the store.
