Emerson thanks Newcomb for a copy of his new book. He notes that he had "already read it enough to find the tone (which is often all the main thing, is it not?) which is surely that of courage and happiness. I am so much for these things that I almost regretted lately that the motto of our branch of the Emersons was 'Fideus servabo' when and [sic] English Emerson wrote to me lately that his branch had the  Meer lezen...
