Autograph letters signed, 21 postcards, 2 telegrams and 1 envelope from James Orchard Halliwell-Phillipps, Brixton Hill, London and Brighton, to T.F. [Thomas Francis] Dillon Croker. The letters refer to their mutual literary interests. Many discuss Thomas Wright's situation and Halliwell-Phillipps' help. (7) mentions a newspaper criticism of Charles Kean's acting of Hamlet. (10) discusses Shakespeare as an actor. (145, 155) mention Furnivall and a criticism of Mr. Browning and the New Shakspere Society that appeared in the Saturday review concerning the "Pigsbrook" controversy. (16, 148) contain drafts of letters from Croker, (165) the drafts of a poem by Croker.
