Letters from July 3, ; Dec. 14, 1894; undated letter; Sept. 8, 1896; Oct. 1, 1896; undated  letter; Nov. 8-17, [1896?]; March 25-29, 1897; June 1, 1897; Dec. 17, 1897; Feb. 6, 1899; Feb. 16, 1899; June 13, 1899; Aug. 8, 1899; Oct. 7, 1899; undated letter; July 24, 1900; Dec. 2, 1900; Feb. 20, 1901; Nov. 4, 1901; June 13, 1902 and Jan. 27, 1903. Also includes fourteen extant accompanying envelopes with corresponding letters and one page printed biography "Dr. Conland" by William M. Carpenter.
Letters on hinged mounts in recessed holders. Special gold tooled leather binding with gilt edges. In protective box 41 x 31 x 8 cm.

Childs sent from Woolsack, Capetown, South Africa, dated April 8, 1903; Typewritten letter on Hartford Courant letterhead, dated April 30, 1928 addressed to Mr. W.M. Carpenter and signed from James Conland's son Henry H. Conland; photostat copy of letter from Lucile Carpenter to Frederick Goff, Librarian, Library of Congress, dated Oct. 22, 1955; accompanying envelopes with instructions from Lucile Carpenter to put Kipling's letter to Childs with Conland correspondence and another envelope, letter wanting, addressed to Mr. Houghton, curator, Rare Book Collection, Library of Congress.
