Jean-Charles Cazin is grateful to his friend Edouard Detaille for helping him to be admitted to the Société des aquarellistes (1881 Dec. 14). Not satisfied with his achievements, he resigns his membership, and hopes that Detaille will defend the reasons for his decision (1884 Jan. 21). The artist sends his friend a croquis as a souvenir for the charming drawings Cazin gave to his son (1885 May 9). A letter from 1889 Aug. 13 speaks about Cazin's expectations of some good news, which could be helped along if Detaille would send Jules Fr. a letter. On 1900 Sept. 19 the artist expresses his desire to present himself again to the Academy, and requests Detaille's support for the approval of his project.
