Abstract:

Comprises three letters by veterans of the Gallipoli campaign. The first, by Stanley Mack to his sister Eva, 16 Aug. 1915, was written after he had been sent away from Gallipoli to recover from illness. The second, by Ernest Mack to his sister Nell, 12-15 Sept. 1915, was written on a hospital ship on the way to England. The third, by John Dennis to Lois Gillespie, 22 Jan. 1916, was written in Egypt. The letters include descriptions of the battles waged at Gallipoli in May-Aug. 1915, of the evacuation in Dec. 1915, and of Lemnos.
