Abstract:

A look at the role of the 761st Tank Battalion (a.k.a.: The Black Panthers) in World War II, during which the battalion was deployed in England, France and Germany.

LIBERATORS claims that the 761st Tank Battalion liberated the concentration camps at Dachau and Buchenwald, which contradicts both official reports to the Army and the 761st's own regimental history. The American Jewish Committee's "Liberators : a background report" concluded that the film contained "serious factual flaws well beyond what can be written off as 'artistic license.'" The film was removed from circulation in 1993, pending re-editing.
