Orson Pratt (1811-1881) was born in Hartford, New York to Jared Pratt and Charity Dickinson. He, along with several other members of his family, were early members of the LDS Church. Orson Pratt (1811-1881) was born in Hartford, New York to Jared Pratt and Charity Dickinson. He, along with several other members of his family, were early members of the LDS Church. In 1835 Orson and his brother, Parley P. Pratt, were called to be apostles in the LDS Church. Orson practiced plural marriage and was the father of a number of children. He was the first to publicly announce the Momron doctrine of the plurality of wives. He died in Salt Lake City in 1881.
