Abstract:

Little Dorrit is a miniseries produced by the BBC and WGBH Boston and based on Charles Dickens' serial novel. In Episode 8, Mr. Merdle's death sends shockwaves through London, as investors learn he has swindled them of their money. One of those people is Arthur Clennam, who finds himself in the Marshalsea Prison for Debt. When Amy Dorrit discovers that Arthur is now an inmate, she abandons her own family's financial crisis and rushes to be by his side. Arthur loves her but will not see her dragged into his impoverished situation. Rigaud re-emerges and reveals his full set of cards to Mrs. Clennam. But what exactly is it that he knows about the House of Clennam? And when she finds out what he knows, will Mrs. Clennam finally give in to his threats?
