John Sr Elliott
|Notes:||Elliott was originally a cabinetmaker, but he didn't make looking glasses himself. Instead, he focused on importing, selling, and repairing them as part of his apothecary business. Because the looking glasses sold at his shop were labeled, they have been attributed to him.
This glass is of the type identified by Mary Ellen Hayward as "H." For more information, see Mary Ellen Hayward, "The Elliotts of Philadelphia," M.A. thesis, University of Delaware (Newark), 1971, p. 146 (copy available in Visual Resources Department).
