John Sr Elliott
According to the DAPC sheet, this piece is in the collection at Winterthur. It might be 1971.0578, which has been deaccessioned. It is attributed to John Elliott Jr. and dated after 1796.
For more information, see Mary Ellen Hayward, "The Elliotts of Philadelphia," M.A. thesis, University of Delaware (Newark), 1971 (copy available in Visual Resources Department).
Elliott was originally a cabinetmaker, but he didn't make looking glasses himself. Instead, he focused on importing, selling, and repairing them as part of his apothecary business. Because the looking glasses sold at his shop were labeled, they have been attributed to him.
