Abstract:
On his 111th birthday Bilbo Baggins vanishes leaving all his posessions, including a mysterious, magical ring, to his nephew Frodo Baggins. When the wizard Gandalf discovers this ring is in fact the One Ring, crafted by the Dark Lord Sauron as a tool of evil power, Frodo undertakes to destroy the ring before Sauron can rise again and reclaim it. Accompanying Frodo on his quest is a fellowship of companions made up of representatives of all the races of Middle-earth: Dwarves, Elves, Men and Hobbits.
