Abstract:

Africa in the early 1800s was indeed the "Dark Continent" and Lord Richard Wells knew the risk when he took his daughter there. Now, five years later, he is dead and an adventurer, John Champernoun, has brought Julianne home after resucing her from a slave market. Neither will tell what really happened. Julianne only wants to forget, and she becomes engaged to the gentle and conderate Lord William. Then John reappears and memories come flooding back. Julianne is forced to face her emotions, and she realized that a safe life is not what she wants!
