I reread The Cay after a first reading of Robinson Crusoe - and found The Cay still more intriguing and life-affirming.  Daniel Defoe definitely gets props for the genre, but Theodore Taylor's updated Shipwreck tale is far more compelling and great for students 3-6th grade, especially - though...

i have read this book before.  i am reading it again for school and doing a book report on it.  i think it is a very good book.. hope u take my advice.

On My Five Best List   (2007-10-22)

This is the only book that has shown me what a Universal Mind looks like (above the boundaries of time, of geography, of culture) as it struggles with numbers and not always a winner.The erudite German scholarship is less formidable if you look for the wit.
