Life is hard when your best friends move away, but it is even harder when your dad is diagnosed with cancer. Unfortunately for Jeremy, both have happened to him at the same time. He has heard that people can fight cancer; there are treatments to battle it, but this is not one of those times. As he struggles to manage a range of emotions with his sister and mother, he finds support in a new friend, Tess, and a gift from his dad – a cat named Blue. His unlikely bond with Tess provides Jeremy with an outlet through which to grieve, and Blue offers unconditional love. His story is one of sorrow, struggle and the willingness to see the light at the end of the tunnel.
