Voices from Mission Control in Houston are heard, as is that of Neil Armstrong as he steps onto the moon. The second side of the disk begins with Walter Cronkite describing Armstrong on the moon before Aldrin's descent. Their landing is seen on television. The voices of the other astronauts are heard as is President Richard Nixon talking to the men on the moon.
Their recovery by the aircraft carrier Hornet, where they are placed for eighteen days in isolation, is described. The phonodisk is a commemorative recording provided by Union Carbide; included with the disk is a Union Carbide brochure that describes its contribution to the lunar landing.
