Abstract:

The collection consists of 102 letters, 1857-1901, chiefly from Marie Hansen Taylor to her sister-in-law, Emma Taylor Lamborn, from addresses in New York, Germany, and the Taylor family home in Kennett Square, Pennsylvania. The topics are primarily domestic news and housekeeping details, with some mention of Bayard Taylor's travels and family friends, such as the Stoddards, Richard W. Gilder, and E.C. Stedman. Later letters are concerned with the posthumous publication of Bayard Taylor's works.

Also includes letters to other recipients, including her brother-in-law, Charles Lamborn, her mother-in-law, Rebecca W. Taylor, and her sister-in-law, Annie Carey.
