Abstract:

This program features the versatile and innovative Mark King live in Ohne Filter TV-Studio in Baden-Baden, Germany. The longtime frontman for the British funk-pop group Level 42 was born in Cowes, England in 1958. As a former drummer, King co-founded the seminal Level 42 in 1980 and moved to the bass, honing a distinctive thumb-slapping technique which became an integral element of the group's sound. In the early 1980s, King popularized this 1970s slap-and-pop style for bass guitar by incorporating it into pop music. From their self-titled 1981 debut onward, the quartet enjoyed considerable success at home, and in 1984, King took time out to record his debut solo album, Influences. This concert features live footage of the man himself performing to an enthusiastic audience over the course of one incredible evening. New fans and old won't want to miss it!
