She actively participated as a former director of the Southern Christian Leadership Conference, the organization Dr. King had led. Much of her work with the SCLC involved citizenship training, where she taught that under the Constitutuion all people are entitled to the same rights regardless of race. Ms. Cotton helped to change the attitude of many people in America from that of apathy and disenfranchisement to active participation and involvement in society ... Memo: Peter F. Burnham.
