Collection consists of correspondence and administrative files relating to the African Center, Lincoln's student participation in the Peace Corps, American Council on Education, fund raising, Theological Seminary, commencement, honorary degrees, faculty appointments, and curriculum.

Other material in the collection includes budgets, presidential reports, annual and financial departmental reports, inaugural material, programs, directories, meeting minutes, and a transcript of the 1961 commencement address given by Martin Luther King, Jr. Correspondents in the papers include A. Philip Randolph, Richard Nixon, Carl Stokes, Horace Mann Bond, James Nabrit, John Hope Franklin, Margaret Mead, and Earl Warren.
